Old Television Commercials

Remember the great commercials from the 70′s, 80′s and 90′s?  The advertisers often employed laughter in their sales tactics.   These kinds of commercials, I believe, stick in your mind much better than a fast car, racing across the desert.

One of my favorite ones of all times, is the one for milk.  It shows a guy who needs milk for his cereal, however they are out of it. His child is in her highchair with a bottle in her mouth, and a cat is drinking out of it’s dish.  He looks at the kid, who looks back at him and the expression on her face is “no way, you can’t have my milk.”  Next thing, the screen goes black, and you hear a cat meow, and when the lights come back up, the cat no longer has her milk!

And remember, “where’s the beef?”  I’m laughing right now thinking about it.

The ‘net has a great number of sites dedicated to old television commercials  The following links are but a small sampling of the great nostalgia you can immerse yourself into whenever the urge strikes!

and for that special commercial, the one that sticks most deeply into your memory, there’s “videomercials”, which are ads that can be downloaded in a WAV format or ordered by DVD or VHS.

If nothing else, you can annoy your kids and perhaps even your spouse, by using your DVD or VHS player, and rigging it to start an old commercial when they turn it on!  Imagine the look on your spouse’s face to see a commercial from when you were kids!  Gotta love it!
