Adopting or strengthening virtuous personality traits can help you to live a happier life.

Yahoo has come up with a list of some personality traits to admire. The ones that they list are:

Selflessness – Not so easy to do in this “what about me” kind of world, is it? If you choose to act with the best interest of others, however, you will find not only genuine happiness, but a sense of satisfaction as well.

Tolerance – Have you ever known somebody who seemed to love you just as you were? Certainly, we all have “issues” that we need to deal with, but knowing that you are accepted, with all of your frailties, gives strength to your plans at self improvement.

Genuineness – Honesty is the seed, and genuineness is the fruit. At the core of a genuine person is one who is not only honest with others, but mostly with themselves.

Sensitivity – Having compassion is important, however empathy is a much deeper emotion that will lead you into action.

Integrity – Many individuals claim to possess it, but the ones who do have it will be obvious to others.

Humility – Strength to not retaliate or feel the need to “show off,” even though you have good reason to.

If everyone tried to make these personality traits a part of their character, the world would be a much brighter place indeed.
